Allium textile (Textile onion)

Order Asparagales, Family Amaryllidaceae, Subfamily Allioidae, Genus Allium

This onion is named "textile" for its textured bulb coat, but I pefer to think it's because of its fancy stripes. Lower Magnolia is where I spotted this gorgeous plant. Its distribution inlcudes the Great Plains, parts of the Northen Rockies, parts of the Pacific Northwest and Canada. A similar onion, Allium macropetalum, is common in parts of the Southern Utah desert.
