Order Caryophyllales, Family Amaranthaceae, Genus Chenopodium
The leaves of this Goosefoot are quite different from the others, and are variable. It is common in North America, and may be the first domesticated Chenopod. A relative of Quinoa, it was a forage plant as early as 6500 B.C. Now pretty much considered a weed in our country, it was part of the Eastern Agricultral Complex, and is still cultivated in Mexico.
