Order Asterales, Family Asteraceae, Genus Arnica
This sun-loving composite has one flower head on a stem, and linear basal leaves. It is one of two Arnicas I have found growing in our area. This plant is not the Arnica used for pain relief. That plant is A. montana, a native of Eurasia.
