These photos were taken on the Boy Scout Trail. Macaeranthera pattersonii is also present, but is darker in color., and has strongly recurved bracts. Also called Aster acsendens, this plant appears to be a hybrid between Aster occidentalis and Virgulaster falcatus. Synomyms abound.
