Order Rosales, Family Eleagnaceae, Genus Shepherdia
Buffaloberry is dioecious, with seperate male and female plants. Only about 3 feet tall in our area, it has rusty scales all over it. Wikipedia and Southwest Colorado Wildflowers have more information.
