Order Ericales, Family Ericaceae, Genus Arctostaphylos
Kinnikinnik, related to cranberries and blueberries, grows mostly in the woods, but can also be found in the open. It enjoys draping itself over rocks. Wikipedia and Southwest Colorado Wildflowers have more ionformation.
