Order Fabales, Family Fabaceae, Genus Astragalus
Another sun lover, this Astragalus lives in meadows.
As with all Astragalus species, the pods are key to identification.
Its synonym os A. multiflorus. Southwest Colorado Wildflowers and Washington Native Plant Society have more information.
Ackerfield, in "Flora of Colorado", says pods can be "greenish and mottled to black, glabrate to strigose." The ones shown here are greenish and mottled.
