Physocarpus monogynus (Ninebark)

Order Rosales, Family Rosaceae, Genus Physocarpus

Ninebark has earned its name because of its peeling bark. It likes partial sun in open woods. It shows variability in leaf shape and flower color; leaves can be truncate or wedge-shaped, while flowers can be white or shades of pink. From a distance, it could be confused with Jamesia americana.
