8.7 Recommendations

8.7.1 Recommendations for PUMA

  1. Encourage landowners and Boulder County to maintain the integrity and natural beauty of the remaining scenic corridors in the Planning Area.

8.7.2 Boulder County

PUMA supports the existing designations in the BCCP and recommends that the following scenic features within the Planning Area be added to the BCCP.

1. Designate Forsythe Rock, in the Environmental Resources Element of the BCCP, a Natural Landmark. This designation should include the entire ridge, not just the southern end.

Rationale

Forsythe Rock is one of the dominant landscape features in the Planning Area, as are Twin Sisters Peak and Winiger Ridge, which are both designated as Natural Landmarks. Forsythe Rock is a critical background feature to Stilson's Meadow (Figure 8.1). Forsythe Rock is also located near the center of the Planning Area, rises above all the adjacent topography, and is in clear view from all directions (Figure 8.2).

8.7.3 Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest

All Forest projects within the Planning Area, and particularly the Winiger Ridge Forest Ecosystem Health and Restoration project, should be implemented in a manner consistent with the scenic integrity of the affected and adjacent landscapes.
