This dangerously toxic plant frequents some of our wet meadows on Magnolia. If you find these in your meadow with livestock, please contact CSU Extension (303) 678-6238 (check as number may not be current). Also, don't handle these plants without gloves, and keep children away from them. This plant is actually considered the most toxic plant in North America. Unfortunately, Wikipedia says this plant has purple spotches on its stem It does not. Cicuta maculata, another Cicuta species, may have purple spots on its stem, and purple splotches occer on Conium maculatum, but I have not seen either up here.
