8.1 Introduction

Visual resources are created by the natural resources and cultural features found within the Planning Area. Geology, water, vegetation and landforms comprise the dominant natural features. These features create variation in line, form, texture, and color in the landscape, which in turn creates diversity in the scenic resource. Historical or vernacular developments may also be key components of scenic resources, such as a homestead and associated buildings that are part of a larger ranching operation, particularly if these structures are visible to the general public. Other cultural features such as road cuts and rural residential development are not considered as positive contributions to the visual resources of the Planning Area.
